The hunt for a new manager to take charge of Bradford City has begun.
It was today announced that the board would begin to work through applications for the top job at Bradford City. After Bantams legend Stuart McCall’s contract was terminated following 6 straight defeats, leaving them with only one win in 2018.
This came along with the news that Gary Caldwell was believed to be interested in the current Bradford vacancy. Caldwell was recently sacked by Chesterfield, however guided Wigan to promotion into the Championship 2 seasons ago.
The believed favourite to swoop the managerial position however, is former Stuttgart man Hanns Wolf. At the age of 36, Hanns Wolf would be the perfect replacement for McCall having won Bundesliga 2 and sharing the same nationality with German Bradford City owners; Edin Rahic and Stefan Rupp.
Should Wolf not wish to drop to a third tier club however, Rahic and the board may look elsewhere to perhaps ‘out of the job’ Simon Grayson following his dismissal from Championship side Sunderland earlier this season. Grayson currently sits at 4/1 for the job and may be attracted to Bradford given the Bantams are in 6th with promotion still very much in their sights.
Michael Flynn has also been linked with the vacancy in the past few days as he leads his boy hood team Newport County to Wembley to face Tottenham this Wednesday in a Fa Cup replay. Michael Flynn who spent three years at Bradford between 2009 and 2012 quoted that he is flattered to hear about the rumours but is fully focused ahead of a massive, money making tie against Spurs.
Bradford fans will now have to wait patiently for the all important announcement and hope that results can turn to kick start their promotion rally again.
