Sunderlands Darron Gisbon has been caught drink driving hours before his sides game against Preston North End.
The former Manchester United midfielder has endured a torrid time at Sunderland since his move to the Stadium of Light. Signing in January 2017 and immediately suffering relegation from the Championship.
He now finds himself bottom of the Championship and en route to League One with his club. Not only that, he now find himself in trouble with the law.
Gibson has previous, being banned from driving in 2015 for a drink driving offence. Now he has been caught again after crashing his vehicle whilst over the limit.
Sunderland fans need their team to pull together in such a time of need. Gibson has let the club, his teammates and his fans down. Even more so, he is endangering the safety of the general public and severe action needs to be taken. Sunderland fans have reacted with exasperation and anger.

See Darron Gibson’s name floating around a fair bit and initially assume he must be back earlier than I was expecting. Turns out that definitely wasn’t the reason. Life as a Sunderland fan. You can’t beat it can you #safc

Darron Gibson’s actions are brainless and inexplicable and that’s whatever was left of his career over. It seems astonishing nobody was hurt and hopefully stepping away from football will allow Gibson the help he so obviously needs. #safc

Darron Gibson clearly has a drinking problem, gets drunk and slags off the full team, now gets drunk and drives 60 in a residential area. Just sack him #SAFC
